Description

In a public conference held in Puebla state (June 26 2014), community representatives of the municipality of San Francisco Ixtacamaxtitlán denounced the entry of Almaden Minerals into their territory without the consent of the ejido council and assembly. They protest the company’s building of roads and consequent property destruction in the Ejido de Almeya.

Almaden Mineral states in its technical report (May 30, 2014) that it has “negotiated voluntary surface land use agreements with surface landowners within the exploration area prior to beginning activities.”

Community’s communiqué aknowledges that certain local residents have ceded land to the company but considers these were accorded fraudulently. In their negotiations, Almaden’s representatives had assured landowners that the project would not become an open pit mine.
